My parents were divorced before I was born, and I was never able to meet my biological father. However, even though I was never taken to church as a child, I was still aware of my heavenly Father and that He was watching over me. My mother remarried when I was 4 years old; and the man she married was a violent and verbally abusive alcoholic. Nevertheless, I excelled in school and in relationships with friends. As a teen, I continued to shine in academics. I always loved to write and teachers and professors told me they would be very disappointed if I didn’t become a professional writer.
Even though I didn’t know anything about church, I was drawn to it. I chose a church my friends attended and began to go on my own when I was about fifteen years old. It was at a summer camp that I realized that I needed to make a public profession of faith. I was baptized at my home church when I was nineteen years old. Later, I attended college as an English/political science major. My aspiration was to become an attorney, but God had other plans. While I was on a break from school, I met my husband, Asa. Asa and I had a business together for several years, but we knew that he was called to be a minister. In 1999, he answered that call.
Today, I help my husband pastor and counsel; I lead women’s ministry, and I lead worship. However, my passion is writing and editing. My husband writes columns for several newspapers, and I do all his editing. I also edit any church-related letters and publications. God has gifted me with the ability to help others look good. I am thankful for every opportunity I have to help others excel in their writing projects and reach their career goals by producing exceptional work. I look forward to seeing all that God has in store for my life. He has great plans for us all.
